Bastion Terms of Service

These Terms govern installation and use of the current Bastion Discord bot and Windows control panel. The person who installs or runs Bastion for a Discord server is the "server operator." A server member who uses a Bastion command, ticket, button, or other bot feature is a "member." By installing or using Bastion, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use Bastion.

1. What Bastion provides

Bastion helps a server operator manage Discord tickets, moderation, onboarding, roles, announcements, and server records. It runs on the operator's Windows computer and connects to Discord using a bot token supplied by the operator. It works only while its bot process is running and while Discord and the required permissions are available. Some features may be private beta features, change, or be unavailable.

The current Public Edition does not include a hosted dashboard, paid subscription checkout, or enforced license verification. The Owner Edition includes a locally run licensing API for issuing and testing manual keys. Server structure snapshots and comparison are available, but Bastion cannot currently rebuild a server from a snapshot or recover deleted messages, server ownership, or membership. Any later paid or hosted offering will require separate or updated terms before it applies.

2. Eligibility and authority

You must meet Discord's minimum age requirements to use Discord features. A server operator must have the legal capacity and authority to install Bastion, provide a bot token, configure its permissions, and act for the server. The operator is responsible for notifying members and staff about enabled features and for obtaining any permissions required by law or Discord's rules.

Bastion is an independent product and is not endorsed by Discord. Your use of Discord remains subject to Discord's Terms and other applicable Discord rules.

3. Operator responsibilities

The server operator controls Bastion's installation and settings. The operator must:

• Protect the computer, bot token, staff access, local records, and backups; assign Discord permissions carefully; and use the owner-operated Windows control panel only from a trusted Windows account.
• Review proposed moderation and deletion actions, including their effect on members and server content. Bastion's safeguards and snapshots do not replace independent backups or human judgment.
• Provide members with any required privacy notice and respond to requests concerning locally stored records and Discord log channels under the operator's control, as described in the Bastion Privacy Policy.
• Comply with applicable law and Discord's terms and policies. Do not use Bastion to harass people, scrape or sell Discord data, evade platform protections, or collect credentials or unnecessary sensitive information.

4. Member content and actions

Members may submit reports, open tickets, and interact with bot controls where the operator enables them. Submit information you are entitled to share, and do not include passwords, payment card numbers, or other sensitive information unless the server operator has specifically provided a suitable secure process. The operator and authorized staff may review reports and tickets and may retain transcripts and action records as explained in the Privacy Policy.

You retain any rights you have in content you submit. You permit Bastion and the server operator to process and display that content as needed to provide the feature you used, including creating a ticket transcript when a ticket is archived. This permission does not transfer ownership of your content to BVNGER.

5. Acceptable use

Do not interfere with Bastion or Discord, try to gain unauthorized access, abuse reports or tickets, or use Bastion for unlawful conduct. Do not share a bot token with unauthorized people. We may restrict access to a Bastion release or stop providing support if its use violates these Terms, Discord's rules, or applicable law. A server operator may remove the bot or disable features for their server.

6. Availability, changes, and support

Bastion depends on the operator's computer, network, Discord's API, and Discord permissions. We may fix, change, or discontinue features and publish updated releases. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, a particular response time, or recovery of deleted content. Any support is provided through the contact channel listed below unless we separately agree otherwise.

7. Intellectual property

BVNGER and its licensors retain rights in the Bastion software, name, artwork, and documentation. The server operator's right to install and run the Windows software is governed by the Bastion End User License Agreement. These Terms do not claim ownership of Discord or member content.

8. Privacy and records

The Bastion Privacy Policy explains how the current software accesses, stores, shares, and retains information. The operator is responsible for records on their computer, in their backups and exports, and in their Discord server. Removing Bastion does not automatically delete those records.

9. Ending use

The operator may stop using Bastion by stopping the bot and removing its Discord access. The operator should also review and delete local records, exports, and Discord log messages when they are no longer needed, subject to legal obligations and valid user requests. We may withdraw a release or restrict support if the operator materially breaches these Terms. The EULA governs termination of the Software license. Sections that by their nature should continue, including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and disputes, survive the end of use.

10. Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Bastion is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of uninterrupted operation, fitness for a particular purpose, or recovery of server data. The operator remains responsible for reviewing permissions and actions taken through the bot. Nothing here excludes warranties or rights that law does not permit us to exclude.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, BVNGER is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses, or for lost data, profits, or business opportunities arising from use of Bastion. This limit does not apply where law prohibits it, including liability that cannot legally be limited. Any additional cap on direct damages should be set in a separate reviewed agreement for a paid offering; these Terms do not set one for the current product.

11. Governing law and changes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Iowa, United States, without displacing mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Disputes should first be raised with us at legal@bvnger.dev. If a dispute cannot be resolved, courts with jurisdiction under applicable law may hear it.

We may update these Terms as Bastion changes. We will revise the effective date and make the current version available where Bastion is distributed. If a change materially affects existing users, we will give notice before it takes effect when required by law. Continued use after an updated version takes effect means you accept it; if you do not, stop using Bastion.
